Why I'm Here
I'm Jeffrey Beer, and I've recently moved to Fairfield Bay. You may know my mother, Mary Alice Beer. She's lived here in the Bay for many years now. You may remember when she was called “the dog lady”, “the bird lady” or “the trail guide”. She was very active in the area, always running around looking at birds, plants and flowers.
She recently elected to move into the Ozark Health Nursing Home in Clinton. I left the Philippine Islands and moved here to help out, and take care of her house, property, and finances, etc. It's good to be here, though I do wish it were under different circumstances. She's pretty happy living there, which is a real godsend. We were quite worried she would hate living in “an old folks home”, and having to give up her freedom and privacy to a large extent. She realized she doesn't have the mobility required to live alone, and the medical issues prevent her from simply have an in-home assistant. The staff at Ozark are truly wonderful. They take very good care of her, and keep me updated constantly. They are always stopping me in the hallways, telling me how much they love having my mom with them. She's so outgoing and is constantly cracking jokes and teasing the staff.
Here's a little about me. I've been building and managing Web Sites for many years. I started out in the late 80's building and operating Bulletin Board Systems, the precursor to the internet. Since then I've worked as a database administrator, programmer, web site and application architect and e-commerce consultant. I've also started and managed businesses in Panama City, Panama, and have just returned from the Philippine Islands where I spent two and one half years honing my photography skills.
While in the Philippines, I developed and managed web sites for several clients, including hotels, resorts and night clubs. Marrying my web site development and management skills with custom photography really worked out well. It's hard to find a real one-stop-shop, especially when you are building a site for hospitality or real-estate marketing. My management services provided an A-Z experience, from interviewing the client regarding their business models and processes, their target demographic, the competition and current market status, to designing, building, and populating the new web site with content and images, to managing updates, security patches and handling all the DNS updates, domain name services, e-mail services, hosting and database management.
During my stay in the Philippines, I was picked up as a contract photographer by AirBNB.com, the leading short-term house, condo and apartment rental web site, as a Contract Photographer. It was pretty nice: customers would list their rental properties on AirBNB.com, and they would provide free professional photography of the host's home, apartment or condo. AirBNB.com would send me out to some beautiful locations to shoot the property, and the host would get the “Verified Photos” banners on their listing, along with really good photos, of course!
Since I've moved here, the same deal is now available in Fairfield Bay. Just check out AirBNB.com, and list your rental for free. Then, request the free professional photography service, and they'll put me in touch to schedule an appointment.
