The Sanctuary of Truth, in Southern Thailand, is the most amazing structure I have ever photographed. I had been meaning to visit the Sanctuary for many years, but was always distracted by something during my many trips. This time, I made solid plans and decided to hold them true. I'm so glad I did.
When you first see the Sanctuary of Truth, it's very difficult to fully acknowledge that this monument to human ingenuity and dedication to purpose was truly built entirely by hand. No power tools are used, only ancient Thai building techniques with antiquated hand tools. The amount of skill and craftsmanship shows in every small detail, of which there are a staggering amount. Every square inch of this structure is covered with sculpture and engravings. It's a visual assault, overwhelming in scope.
The photo gallery contains photos of the exterior, exterior detail, interior, interior detail, and some snapshots of the construction area where the workers create new art and repair existing pieces.
You can visit the entire gallery by clicking The Sanctuary of Truth Photo Gallery. I hope you enjoy my photos.
